Thursday Report for The Subcontinental, October 3, 2002
This is the Subcontinental Institute's bi-weekly report to keep
you inform about the activities of the organization and journal.
The Institute is currently accepting subscriptions for the first
year of The Subcontinental: A Journal of South Asian American
Political Identity. The first issue, due out in January, will
focus on the trends, strategies, and accomplishments of South
Asian Americans for engaging the American democratic process.

Additionally, on September 23, 2002, representatives of the
Subcontinental Institute were present for the newly formed
Indian American Republican Council's inaugural dinner in
Washington, D.C. In addition to prominent politically active
Indian American community, Rep. Tom Davis (VA-11), Chairman of
the National Republican Congressional Committee and Co-Chair of
the India Caucus, Rep. Ed Royce (CA-39), Rep. Joe Wilson (SC-2),
and Rep. Ander Crenshaw (FL-4) were in attendance.
TiE-Austin has graciously offered the Subcontinental Institute
a table at their annual conference this Saturday, October 5, 2002.
Our Editor-in-Chief (Nirav Desai), Managing Editor (Joseph
McElrath), and Community Organizing Program Director (Sonia
Abraham) will be in attendance. We encourage those of you in
Texas to come by and speak with us. For more information please
