About the Journal
Mission
Get Involved The Subcontinental is a quarterly journal that consolidates the growing body of thought shaping South Asian American political identity. The journal presents current perspectives on the role and representation of South Asian Americans in public policy and in the media. The Subcontinental also chronicles this community's perspectives on issues affecting all Americans.
Vision
The Subcontinental envisions a forum for dialogue on South Asian American political identity, speaking with many voices on common issues. The journal will realize this vision by:
  • Developing and sustaining an editorial policy and board that is inclusive and representative of the various perspectives of the South Asian American community.
  • Establishing a presence in each major metropolitan area via regional representatives and strategic partners that can interface with local community members and organizations. These regional representatives and strategic partners will provide local feedback to the staff of The Subcontinental and host programs that encourage the development of this community's identity.
  • Identifying opportunities through regional representatives to encourage research and publication. The Subcontinental Institute will also support organizations hosting seminars, conferences, and presentations on the various issues important to the role and representation of South Asian Americans in media and policy.
