Richard Lariviere is a renowned Sanskrit scholar, Ralph B. Thomas Regents Professor in Asian Studies, and Dean of the largest college at the largest university in the nation. He has served as U.S. Delegate to the Union Academique Internationale (1995- ) and on the Board of Directors for the Council of American Overseas Research Centers Washington, D.C. (1991-). He has also served as Advisor to the Lt. Governor of the State of Texas on Education Policy and Finance (1993- 4) and served as Director of the National Resource Center for South Asia, University of Texas (1986-94). He is also an editorial consultant to the University of Pennsylvania Press.
